Dallas stuns CC In overtime

Box Score Freshman forward James Lonergan had a game to remember playing in front of his friends and family for the first time on Friday night at the University of Dallas.

Unfortunately for Colorado College, the result was one it would like to forget.

Lonergan poured in a season-high 20 points, but the Tigers let a 10-point lead slip away during the final 5:12 of regulation and dropped a 68-64 overtime decision to the Crusaders.

Tanner Bruffey drained a three-pointer with five seconds remaining to force the extra session and then put UD ahead to stay with 1:23 to play in overtime. CC was just 1-for-12 from the floor in overtime, missing its final four field-goal attempts and a pair of free throws during the final 60 seconds.

CC took a 35-23 when Chris Lesnansky knocked down a jumper 1:32 into the second half and led 55-44 after Lonergan sank three free throws with 5:12 remaining in the game.

Senior forward Ian Rewoldt grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds and scored nine points, while junior point guard Ryan Milne added nine points and dished out seven assists.

Bruffey paced the Crusaders with 15 points. Ross Davidson and Kym Malone added 13 and 11, respectively.

Colorado College slipped to 7-7 overall and is tied first place in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference with both Trinity and Dallas with a 4-1 record.

The Tigers play at UD again on Saturday.
