Box Score It may have been a typical victory for Southwestern University, which reached its season average on the scoreboard, but there was nothing ordinary about Madison Eschle's performance on Friday.
Eschle tied a career high with 19 points, powering the Pirates to an 80-49 victory over Colorado College in a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference contest at Reid Arena.
The Tigers, who got 13 points from freshman
Danielle Davis and 11 from senior
Sarah Gunkel, suffered their fourth consecutive loss while dropping to 3-6 in league play and 3-16 overall.
Nine of Eschle's points came from the three-point arc, as she sank three of four long-range attempts. The sophomore forward also converted on all six of her charity tosses to help second-place Southwestern improve to 7-1 in the SCAC and 13-5 overall.
Eschle's performance came on a night when the team's leading scorer, Jordan Evans, found the bucket only once while being held to just two points. Evans did pace the Lady Bucs with eight rebounds, with Eschle pulling down six.
Gunkel scored all her points in the first half, accounting for nearly half of CC's total as Southwestern built a 44-23 cushion by intermission. She also dominated on the boards, pacing both teams with 12 renbounds.
But the Pirates ended up shooting 43 percent from three-point range, making 10 of 23 attempts for the game, while Colorado College saw only two of the 10 it launched fall through the hoop.
Sophomore guard
Courtney Tyus dished out five assists for the Tigers.
