Box Score Colorado College had a strong shooting performance by senior
Kalli Kemling, who tied her season-high 17 points, but Southwestern University proved too much as the Tigers fell, 88-58, on Friday evening in Georgetown, Texas.
CC suffered its first Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference loss of the season to the Pirates as both teams moved to 2-1 in conference play.
Kemling scored 17 points to lead the Tiger offense and hit 7-of-13 shots from the floor for a 54.0 field-goal percentage. The Pueblo, Colo. native also grabbed a team-high four steals.
Southwestern (6-7) took its first and only lead it needed when Jordan Owens hit a jumper 21 seconds into the game to help spark a 5-0 run.
The Tigers pulled to within three points with a layup by Kemling with 15:36 remaining in the first half, but the Pirates ran off 16 straight points to give the team a 27-8 lead midway through the half.
Kemling scored 13 points to lead all players and hit 5-of-9 from the floor during the first half. The senior scored all of CC's eight points during the final six minutes of the half to send the Tigers into intermission down, 54-22.

Sarah Gunkel grabbed eight rebounds in the first half and led all players with a game-high 10 rebounds to lead the defense and tie her season high.

Marissa Gradoz scored in double figures for CC with 14 and 10 points, respectively.
Owens led Southwestern with 17 points and seven rebounds. Chelsea Leeder added 13 points, while Audrey Garcia and Kaitlyn Rossa scored 12 and 10 points, respectively.
Colorado College (2-11) continues its road swing on Sunday as it plays at Trinity University on Sunday at 12 p.m. in San Antonio, Texas.
