Tigers fall to Trinity, 72-52

Box Score Despite a career-high 18 points by sophomore Courtney Tyus, Colorado College dropped a 72-52 decision to Trinity University as it continued conference play on Sunday afternoon in San Antonio, Texas.
 
Along with Tyus's 18 points, she also dished out a game-high six assists to lead all players and tie her season high.
 
The Tigers held a slim 8-7 lead after Tyus hit a layup with 14:57 remaining in the first half, but Trinity went on a 7-0 run to retake the lead.
 
CC pulled to within two points when freshman Danielle Davis hit a layup on the fly after a steal by Tyus with 11:31 left in the opening half. But that was as close as the Tigers would get the remainder of the game as Trinity slowly built its lead and went into intermission with a 38-22 advantage.
 
Senior Sarah Gunkel added 12 points and eight rebounds to aid CC on both sides of the court, while senior Kalli Kemling contributed with nine points and a team-best nine rebounds.
 
Trinity (9-4, 4-0 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference) was led by Murphy Burns with 25 points. Hannah Coley also added 13 points for the offense, while Libby Kruse and Bryony Harris added 11 and 10 rebounds, respectively to lead the defensive efforts.
 
Colorado College (2-12, 2-2 SCAC) continues conference action on the road as it plays two games against the University of Dallas on Friday and Saturday at 6 p.m. in Irving, Texas.
