Box Score Despite double-figure scoring efforts by
Katie Wirth and
Courtney Tyus, Colorado College opened its 2013-14 season with a 74-59 loss to St. Olaf College on Friday evening at Reid Arena.

Wirth led the Tigers with a career-high 15 points, on 5-of-6 shooting from the floor and 4-for-6 from the free-throw line. The sophomore also dished out four assists.

Tyus, a third-year starter, scored 14 points and added two steals and two assists to aid CC's efforts.

The duo combined to give the Tigers an 11-6 lead with 15:40 left in the first half when Tyus dished a pass to Wirth for a layup.

The Oles struck back 16 seconds later when Sheridan Blanford drained a layup from Zoe Hansen, which sparked a 14-0 run to give St. Olasf a 20-11 lead midway through the half.

The Tigers clawed their way back with a 13-2 run that was capped with a jumper by freshman
Korbyn Ukasick to regain their lead with 5:23 remaining in the half.

Tied 27-27 with just under three minutes to play, St. Olaf closed out the half with an 8-0 run to give the Oles a 35-27 lead at intermission. Â Â Â

CC was unable to get any closer as St. Olaf slowly built its lead after the intermission.

The Oles were led by Kim Cerjan with 18 points, while Emily Wahlberg added 13 points and grabbed a team-high eight rebounds. Elise Raney and Nikki Frogner also scored in double figures with 12 points each.

The Tigers were led defensively by Ukasick and
Danielle Davis with five rebounds apiece. The pair also scored nine and eight points, respectively.

Colorado College will play its final game of TipOff Tournament on Sunday against Occidental College at 1 p.m. in Reid Arena.Â
