Last week was Michael Bennett's turn to shine.
Bennett, a senior from Golden, Colo., turned in three impressive performances at Saturday's dual meet in Alamosa against Adams State University, helping the Tigers roar to a 141-49 victory.
And, on Wednesday, he was recognized for his efforts as the Southern Collegiate Athletic Association named him SCAC Men's Swimmer of the-Week for all meets through Nov. 17.
Bennett led from start to finish while winning the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:55.46, more than six seconds ahead of the closest Grizzlies entry and four faster than runnerup Brian Kopec of CC.
"It has been exciting watching Michael swim these past two weeks," said head coach Anne Goodman James. "He has been having some outstanding performances – the results of the consistent and intense work load that he has been doing in training. I am very proud of him."
Bennett also claimed second in the 100-yard butterfly with a 56.31 clocking, barely a second off the winning pace of teammate Colin Chupik.
He also posted a 22.53 split in the 200-yard medley relay. for the Tigers.
