Bulldogs’ second-half run bites Tigers

Box Score Texas Lutheran University outscored Colorado College 18-4 early in the second half and cruised to a 63-41 victory on Saturday night at Memorial Gymnasium.
 
Sophomore forward Danielle Davis recorded 11 points and grabbed seven rebounds for the Tigers, who dropped to 1-14 overall and 1-4 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference. 
 
Junior guard Courtney Tyus and freshman forward Korbyn Ukasick added eight points apiece.
 
Things looked good early in the contest after Davis scored five quick points to help the Tigers jump out to an early 8-2 lead.
 
TLU took the lead on Taylor Dydalewicz's layup with 9:06 remaining in the first half, but CC trailed by just one point after freshman forward Kali Place scored after grabbing an offensive rebound.
 
The Bulldogs outscored Colorado College 8-3 during the final 3:15 to open a 26-20 lead after 20 minutes.
 
With a pair of steals, Tyus climbed into sole possession of ninth place on the program's all-time list with 138. She needs only two more to pass Liz Kolbe's 139 (2004-08) for eighth.
 
Dydalewicz and Natalie Vella each had 11 points for TLU, which improved to 11-5 overall and 3-2 in league play.
 
Bianca Case dished out seven assists for Texas Lutheran, which had 20 assists on 22 field goals.
 
CC returns home next week to play host to Southwestern University and Trinity University on Friday and Saturday, respectively.
