Western Michigan University makes just its second visit ever to Colorado Springs this weekend when the Broncos and CC meet in a two-game National Collegiate Hockey Conference series at the World Arena.
Faceoff is 7:37 p.m. MT Friday and 7:07 p.m. Saturday.
Friday's contest kicks off a stretch in which Colorado College, which is celebrating the program's 75th season with special festivities this week, plays five of its final eight regular-season outings at home.
The Tigers, 3-18-5 overall, head into the series tied for seventh place in the NCHC with a 3-9-4-1 mark in league play. They skated to a 2-2 tie at the University of Minnesota Duluth last Friday but dropped a 2-1 decision to UMD a night later despite out-shooting the Bulldogs by a 32-26 margin.
Western Michigan, which swept (5-2, 3-2) at Miami University last week, is 14-10-4 overall and 8-7-1-1 in the NCHC. The fifth-place Broncos and University of Denver lead CC by 12 points in the conference standings.
Colorado College and WMU have met only four times before, with each team winning twice. The Tigers swept the former CCHA member (8-4, 3-1) at the World Arena in December 2002 en route to a 30-victory season. Western Michigan returned the favor earlier this campaign in Kalamazoo, Mich., snagging a 3-2 overtime victory in the series opener before taking the weekend finale by a score of 5-1.
Fans throughout Colorado can watch replays of both games this week as Comcast Entertainment Television (CET) provides taped-delay telecasts available to XFinity subscribers on channel 105. Friday's series opener will air at 7 p.m. MT Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday, while Saturday's rematch can be seen at 3:30 p.m. Sunday and 7:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 17.
