Tigers battle WMU to 4-4 tie

Box Score Freshman winger Alex Roos scored his seventh goal of the season at 7:12 of the third period on Friday, lifting Colorado College to a 4-4 tie with Western Michigan University in the opener of their two-game series at the World Arena.

CC salvaged a point in the National Collegiate Hockey Conference standings despite allowing the Broncos to rally from a 3-0 deficit late in the second period.

Western Michigan, which scored all four of its goals in a span of 8:35, got back in the contest with a pair of tallies late in the middle frame, then struck twice early in the third to grab a 4-3 lead with 14:14 left in regulation.

But Roos converted on a goalmouth pass from junior defenseman Peter Stoykewych to pull the Tigers even and help them move into seventh place all alone in the NCHC with a 3-9-5-1 record in league play. They're 3-18-6 overall.

Cody Bradley, Archie Skalbeck and Jordan DiGiando also scored for CC, with senior forward Skalbeck also adding an assist on Bradley's go-ahead goal during a power play at 15:21 of the first period. Freshman defenseman Jaccob Slavin collected a pair of assists.

WMU, 14-10-5 overall and 8-7-2-2 in conference play, won a post-overtime shootout to pick up an extra point in the standings. Four different players – Nolan LaPorte, Will Kessel, Shane Berschbach and Thomas Nitsche – scored for the Broncos.
