Led in the singles competition by sophomore
Casey Shaw and freshman Levi Kimmell, Colorado College rolled to its third victory in five matches so far during its spring-break Florida trip with a 6-3 triumph over Bethel University on Wednesday morning.
Shaw, who started the day teaming up with freshman
Dylan Ball to win 8-1 at No. 3 doubles, battled back from a first-set loss to prevail in his marathon No. 4 singles match by a 4-6, 7-5, 11-9 count. Kimmell joined Shaw, along with
Taylor Delehanty and
Ross Sherman, in the win column with a dominating victory at No. 2 after a slow start.
"This was a tremendous win for our young team," said head coach
Anthony Weber. "We had to rely on depth and clutch performances in the singles lineup to get a hard fought win.
*Casey is picking up some steam in singles while playing as well as he's played all year. Levi got down early in the first set, but mentally turned it around to run off nearly 12 straight games in his win."
The Tigers, who were scheduled to resume action with another match against Knox College in the afternoon, improved to 3-1 on their trip.
