Despite spirited performances by sophomore
Ross Sherman and freshman
Levi Kimmel on Friday, Colorado College came away with little to show against another strong NCAA DIvision II opponent.
The Tigers, playing their second of four matches in five days, dropped a 9-0 decision to Colorado Mesa University at the Garden of the Gods Country Club.
"Ross and Levi were solid," said head coach
Anthony Weber. "But, as a team, Mesa plays a bit "bigger and heavier" than we're used to. It's a great match to get us back on task and ready for the weekend ahead!"
Sherman, in his first year on the team, staged a fierce battle at No. 6 singles before dropping a marathon 7-6(5), 0-6, 15-13 decision to CMU's Trevor Brown.
Kimmel bounced back after a first-set loss at No. 2 singles to put up a fight before dropping the second set 7-6(2).
