Box Score Colorado College stayed within striking distance of first-place Trinity University for more than 15 minutes, however the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference co-leader asserted itself during the final 4:21 of the first half and cruised to a 76-43 victory on Saturday night at Sams Gymnasium.
After junior forward
Danielle Davis scored on a layup to pull the Colorado Tigers to within 18-12, Trinity's Lauren Splawn drained a three-pointer that ignited a 15-4 run and gave her team a 17-point lead after 20 minutes.
Trinity, which added the first nine points of the second half to take control, shot a fraction better than 54 percent from the field after the break.
Sophomore forward
Korbyn Ukasick led Colorado College with 12 points and shared the team lead of seven rebounds with senior guard
Courtney Tyus.
Freshman guard
Francesca Cendali connected on three of eight shots from behind the arc to tie her season high of nine points.
Splawn finished with 13 points for the Texas Tigers, who improved to 15-3 overall and are tied with Schreiner University and Southwestern University atop the league standings with a 6-1 mark.
Junior forward Anecia Richardson and freshman guard Rebecca Gordon added 12 points apiece for TU.
The teams meet again next Saturday in Colorado Springs.
