Rick Swan reached an impressive milestone on Friday evening when he coached in his 600th match with the Colorado College volleyball program. Swan hit the milestone in the final match of the day against the University of St. Thomas during the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh Volleyball Invitational.

In 18 seasons leading the Tigers, Swan has posted a 444-156 record as the winningest coach in CC volleyball history. He has also guided the Tigers to a 24-1 record this season, which currently ties for the best start in program history. Â

Courtney Birkett recorded a pair of double-doubles during the first day of the tournament as the eighth-ranked Tigers defeated both Martin Luther College and St. Thomas in straight sets.

Birkett led CC with 10 kills and added 14 assists during a 25-15, 25-17, 25-8 victory over Martin Luther in the first match of the day. She followed that with 16 digs and 15 assists in a 25-15, 25-14, 25-19 sweep over St. Thomas.

CC's defense held each of its opponents to a negative hitting percentage for the fifth and sixth time this season. The Tigers held Martin Luther to a -.041 attack percentage, giving up only 19 kills on 74 attempts with 22 errors.

In the final match, Colorado College forced St. Thomas into 20 errors in 114 attempts with just 19 kills for a -.009 hitting percentage.

Sophie Merrifield anchored the defense with a combined 24 digs. Junior
Rebecca Watson orchestrated the offense with 34 assists during the two victories. Â

Abbe Holtze nearly posted a double-double against St. Thomas with a team-best 11 kills along with nine digs. Sophomore
Reagan Folaron also added 13 digs and seven kills against the Tommies.

Colorado College finishes the tournament on Saturday with matches against the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater at 10 a.m. CT and the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point at noon.
