Box Score The Colorado College women's basketball team opened its 2015-16 season in Denver against Johnson & Wales University on Monday evening. The Tigers were unable to come away with the road victory, falling to the Wildcats 93-73.

Senior
Danielle Davis led CC with 15 points and a pair of assists. Junior
Korbyn Ukasick and freshman
Casey Torbet also scored in double-figures with 10 points apiece.

Torbet, who made her first career start as a Tiger, scored the first basket of the game after she stole the ball from the Wildcats' Andromeda Sales 26 seconds into the first quarter.

Johnson & Wales (4-1) came back with a 21-4 run that was sparked when Vanessa Maestas made a free throw with 9:22 left in the first quarter. That run proved to be all the Wildcats would need to hold onto the victory.

Colorado College cut Johnson & Wales lead to seven when freshman
Kate Loy hit a layup with 49 seconds remaining in the first quarter, but that was as close as the Tigers would get.

Despite the loss, CC hit 42.0 percent from the floor on 29-of-69 shooting and shot an impressive 92.3 percent from the charity stripe on 12-of-13 shooting.

Senior
Katie Wirth picked up a team-high eight rebounds to lead the team on the boards, while Torbet picked up a team-best three steals on defense.

Along with Torbet, freshman
Kaylyn Radtke made her first start as a Tiger and contributed with three rebounds, a basket and a steal.

Sophomore
Nina Holley and freshmen Loy,
Rianna Reimers,
Payton Katich and
Jessica Savage also made appearances in their first career game at CC.

Colorado College (0-1) opens its first games at home on Friday and Saturday as it hosts the CC Tip-Off Classic at 4 and 6 p.m. each day. The Tigers begin the tournament against Alverno College at 6 p.m. on Friday.
