Box Score Colorado College erased a five-goal halftime deficit, but the clock ran out before it could overcome Occidental College's second-half surge as the visitors held on for a 13-11 victory on Friday afternoon at Washburn Field.
Sophomore midfielder
Mary Taussig and freshman attacker
Steph Kelly struck for two goals apiece as CC used a 5-0 run to open the second half to wipe out a five-point deficit. However, after sophomore midfielder
Sadie Cole tied the game at 9-9 with 17:32 to play, Occidental built a four-goal lead which proved to be too big to overcome.
Adrienne Ruth made five of her nine saves during the second half, the biggest of which occurred with 21:18 remaining in the game when she denied
Annie DeFrino's shot from the edge of the crease 30 seconds after CC tied the game at 8-8 on
Mary Taussig's free-position tally.
Then, with 4:37 to play, she stopped DeFrino a second time from close range on a shot that would have pulled Colorado College to within two goals. Instead, Rebecca Reese struck while playing a man up to extend its lead to four with 2:51 on the clock.

Natalie Shishido and DeFrino closed the gap, but Occidental grabbed the last draw control and ran out the final seconds.
