Box Score Sophomore midfielder Sadie Cole equaled her season highs of four goals and five points to help Colorado College pull away for a 15-4 victory over Colorado State University-Pueblo on Wednesday night at the Gonzales Lacrosse Complex.

The Tigers improved to 7-6 with their third consecutive victory and have outscored their opponents 50-12 during those games.

The ThunderWolves hung tough for the first 15 minutes and evened the count at 2-2 when freshman midfielder Rachael Welzin scored midway through the first half.

However, CC answered countered with tallies by senior attacker Iris Rayburn, sophomore midfielder Mary Taussig and sophomore midfielder Colleen Orr to build a 5-2 lead with 10:03 remaining.

Freshman midfielder Allye Webb struck for the second time to pull CSUP to within two, but junior attacker Sammy Blair scored with 1:06 to play to give Colorado College a 6-3 cushion after 30 minutes.

CC seized control with goals tallies by Taussig and Rayburn early in the second half, and after freshman midfielder Alix Zierden got one back for CSUP, the Tigers tacked on seven unanswered goals to close out the scoring.

Rayburn and Taussig each finished with three goals and an assist, while Orr tied her career best with three markers.

Junior Martha Smith made one save during the first half to earn the victory in goal. Freshman Zoe Frolick stopped five shots during the second half.

Colorado College recorded a 36-12 edge in total shots and a 21-19 edge in ground balls.

Cole grabbed three ground balls and caused three turnovers for the Tigers, while freshman attacker Steph Kelly finished with eight draw controls.

Freshman Nicole Burkhauser steered aside 14 shots for the ThunderWolves, who slipped to 3-8.

CC is idle until Saturday, April 11, when the Tigers visit Fredericksburg, Va., to play the University of Mary Washington.
