Ukasick Scores 14 as CC Falls to Austin

Box Score Senior forward Korbyn Ukasick led Colorado College with 14 points, but that wasn't enough as the Tigers dropped a 76-51 decision to Austin College on Saturday evening to continue Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play on the road in Sherman, Texas.

Ukasick, who scored in double figures for the 11th time this season, shot a team-best 50.0 percent from the field on 6-of-12 shooting, which included a pair of baskets from behind the arc. The senior also led the defense with five rebounds.

Senior guard Katie Waters added nine points for CC, while senior forward Danielle Davis chipped in eight points and tied her career-high five assists to lead the team.

The Tigers held an early 6-2 lead after Ukasick and junior guard Christina Bowman each made a basket from long range 43 seconds into the game.

The 'Roos took an 8-6 lead when junior forward Kendall Heitmeier completed a three-point play after being fouled on a made layup, but CC was able to come back on another three-pointer by Ukasick with 7:26 left to play in the first quarter.

After AC took a 12-9 lead, Waters drained a three-pointer to tie the game at 12-12 with 2:01 remaining, however Austin's freshman forwards Kelly Lynch and Bryce Frank combined for a 7-2 run to give the 'Roos a 19-14 lead after 10 minutes of action.

Senior forward Chrissy Ray helped continue AC's run in the second quarter, scoring eight of her 12 points during the next 10 minutes to help give the 'Roos a 45-26 lead at intermission.

The Tigers were able to cut Austin's lead to 50-36 with the help of Waters who scored six of CC's 10 points during a 10-5 run, but that proved to be as close as the Tigers would get as Lynch hit a layup to spark a 14-4 run to close out the third quarter.

Austin (11-4), which remains undefeated in the SCAC with a 5-0 record and is in sole possession of first place, was led by Frank with 15 points. Sophomore guard Kali Vittallo and Lynch also scored in double figures with 12 and 11 points, respectively.

Colorado College (2-15, 1-5 SCAC) continues SCAC action on the road as it takes on Texas Lutheran University and Southwestern University in Texas at 8 p.m. CT on Friday and Saturday.
