Tigers' Run Not Enough Against the Eagles

Box Score A late run by the Colorado College women's basketball team wasn't enough as the Tigers fell to the University of the Ozarks, 67-53, on Saturday afternoon in the final matchup of the Rocky Mountain Thanksgiving Classic in Reid Arena.

Ozarks held a 32-25 lead after Anisha Johnson drained a layup with 9:01 remaining in the third quarter, but a trio of three pointers by CC over a 1:07 span helped to tie the game at 34-34 with 5:32 left on the clock in the third quarter.

Freshman guard Jordan Meltzer dished a pass to senior guard Christina Bowman for a three at the 6:39 mark to ignite a 9-2 run for CC. Freshman guard Nia Duplain drained the next three and Bowman capped the run with her final three pointer of the quarter.

Sophomore guard Casey Torbet drained a layup with 4:25 remaining to hand the Tigers a 36-34 lead; however, a free throw by Rose Robinson helped the Eagles come back on a 13-4 run to close out the third quarter and take a 47-40 lead they would not relinquish.

Torbet led Colorado College with 10 points, six rebounds and three assists.  Duplain added a season-high nine points along with five rebounds, while senior forward Kali Place added eight points, six rebounds and a team-best three steals.

The Ozarks were led by Delanei Stephens with 16 points and 11 rebounds, while Johnson and Hailey Ostrander added 13 points each. Bryanna Moltz also added 11 rebounds for the defense, which out-rebounded CC 62-42 and earned 21 second chance points.
