Box Score Colorado College was within 61 seconds of claiming its first Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference men's soccer championship, however a pair of late goals allowed Trinity University to rally for a 2-1 victory in double overtime on a blustery Sunday afternoon at Austin College.
CC broke through in the 63rd minute when sophomore midfielder
Robert Malone put a low shot past TU goalkeeper Todd Whittaker.
Malone took a pass from sophomore defender
Keenan Amer and found the net from 12 yards away for his third goal of the season. It was the second assist of the year for Amer.
The Colorado College defense kept No. 3-ranked Trinity at bay until a shot by Austin Michaelis eluded junior goalkeeper
Theo Hooker late in the 89th minute.
Riding the shift in the momentum, TU struck for the game winner 3:05 into the second overtime when Brady Johnston scored from 17 yards in the center of the box off a back pass from Michaelis.
The game was a defensive struggle with most of the play occurring in the middle third.

Christian Wulff nearly put CC on the board early in the second half when his header off of
Tim Huettel's corner kick from the left side went inches over the crossbar near the right post.

Joel Frykholm nearly added an insurance goal in the 86th minute, but his shot from the center of the box went just wide of the left post.
Hooker finished with four saves, including a pair in the first overtime.
Whittaker's only save came on Huettel's direct kick from 30 yards early in the second overtime.
Trinity, which improved to 20-1-0, finished with a 17-8 advantage in total shots and a 10-5 edge in corner kicks.
Colorado College completed the regular season with a 16-3-1 record.
CC will learn its postseason fate on Monday, Nov. 7, at 11 a.m. MT, when the bracket for the 2016 NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Championship is unveiled.
