Box Score The Colorado College women's basketball team outrebounded its opponent for only the second time this season, despite falling to Johnson & Wales University, 65-47, on Tuesday evening in Denver.

CC was led on the boards by sophomore guard
Casey Torbet and senior guard
Christina Bowman with eight rebounds apiece. Torbet's eight rebounds earned her a career-high as she helped the Tigers outrebound the Wildcats 44-39. Â

Torbet also led the Tigers with 16 points, one point shy of tying her career high, and four assists. Junior guard
Nina Holley added a career-high eight points, while Bowman chipped in six points. Â

CC and JWU both made 18 field goals each; however, the Wildcats hit 11 three-pointers and 18 free throws, while the Tigers made only three shots from long range and eight free throws.

Johnson & Wales (6-7) held an 11-7 lead after 10 minutes of action before Holley drained a jumper 21 seconds into the second quarter to spark an 11-4 run. Torbet gave the Tigers its largest lead of the game at 18-15 on a free throw with 4:22 left in the quarter.

Cara McNiff tied the game with a three-pointer at the 4:05 mark, which began a 12-2 run to help the Wildcats regain its lead and go ahead 27-20 with 1:09 remaining in the second quarter. Bowman hit a three-pointer nine seconds later to cut the lead and go into halftime with the Tigers down 27-23.

McNiff scored 11 of her team-leading 18 points in the second half as the Wildcats continued to build upon their lead. McCorra Ford added 16 points and 16 rebounds, while leading the team with five assists and five steals. Vanessa Maestas contributed with 11 points.

Colorado College (1-8)will return home as it opens Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference action on Friday against the University of Dallas at 5:30 p.m. in Reid Arena.
