CC Can’t Keep Up With No. 16 Trinity

Box Score Colorado College gave its all, but No. 16 Trinity University's pressure and depth proved too much for the young Tigers to overcome.

TU shot a little better than 44 percent from the field and forced 27 turnovers in a 75-43 victory on Friday night at Reid Arena.

After falling behind 21-4 with 2:23 remaining in the first quarter, senior guard Christina Bowman hit a three-pointer with 38 seconds to go to trim CC's deficit to 13 points.

Colorado College trailed 35-20 after senior forward Kali Place sank a free throw with 2:38 to play in the second quarter, however Trinity closed out the first half with a 10-2 run to build a 45-22 lead after 20 minutes.

Bowman's three-pointer from the left wing got CC to within 19 points with a little more than four minutes to go in the third quarter, but that proved to be as close as it would get.

Bowman led Colorado College with 11 points.

Senior forward Korbyn Ukasick scored seven points and grabbed a game-high eight rebounds to help CC finish with a 49-42 advantage on the glass.

Senior guard Monica Holguin led Trinity with 17 points.

Junior guard Micah Weaver scored 15 points, while freshman forward Abby Holland added 14.

Holland and Elizabeth Balido had eight rebounds apiece for TU, which improved to 15-1 overall and 4-1 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.

Colorado College dropped to 2-15 overall and 1-5 in conference play.

CC plays host to Schreiner University on Sunday at Noon CT.
