Box Score Despite a game-high 18 points from junior guard
Casey Torbet, Colorado College dropped a 60-51 decision to Lewis & Clark College on Friday night in the 2017 Pikes Peak Holiday Classic at Reid Arena.
Sophomore forward
Evan Underbrink added a season-high 14 points and three blocked shots for the Tigers, who slipped to 3-8.
CC freshman winger
McKenzee Gertz recorded her fourth double-double of the season with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
The Tigers pulled to within six points when Torbet sank a pair of free throws with 1:26 to play in the third quarter, but the Pioneers scored the next seven points to open a 16-point cushion on a layup by senior forward Lauren Wood with 7:11 remaining in the game.
Colorado College closed out the game on an 11-4 run but could get no closer than nine points after Underbrink scored just before the final buzzer.
Junior guard Alyx Crager led the Pioneers with 13 points. She also dished out three assists.
Senior guard Miyah Leith scored 12 points for Lewis & Clark, which improved to 6-4.
Senior forward Lauren Wood grabbed a game-high 16 points and added six points for the Pioneers.
CC took its largest lead at 12-6 when Torbet scored with 3:25 remaining in the first quarter, but the Pioneers scored eight unanswered points and took the lead when Crager connected on a three-pointer with four seconds to go.
The Tigers fought back and took a 24-23 lead on an Underbrink layup 4:11 into the second quarter, but Crager tied the game with a free throw and then put Lewis & Clark ahead to stay on a layup with 4:15 to play before halftime.
Colorado College plays host to Oberlin College in the tournament finale on Saturday at 3 p.m.
