Box Score Colorado College completed its two-game road trip to the Pacific Northwest with a 75-42 loss against No. 9 Whitman College on Saturday afternoon in the Whitworth University Holiday Classic presented by Red Lion River.

The Tigers dropped to 2-7 overall with their third loss against an opponent ranked in the WBCA Division III Top 25 Coaches Poll.

Junior guard Casey Torbet led CC with 10 points.

Sophomore Evan Underbrink and freshman winger McKenzee Gertz each finished with seven points and tied for the team lead with five rebounds.

Colorado College trailed by 11 points early in the second quarter, but cut its deficit to 30-24 when Gertz scored on a layup with 1:41 remaining in the first half.

A basket by Underbrink pulled the Tigers to within 36-26 early in the third quarter, but the Blues broke the game open with a 16-5 surge to build a 52-31 cushion after 30 minutes.

Senior point guard Casey Poe and sophomore forward Makane Stone scored 14 points apiece for Whitman, which improved to 8-1.

The Blues shot 54 percent from the floor and mad five of 13 shots from behind the arc.

CC shot a fraction over 38 percent and went just 1-for-11 from three-point range.

Colorado College begins Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play on Saturday, Dec. 16, when the Tigers travel to the University of Dallas.
