Box Score Highlights
Logan O'Connor and Troy Terry each scored twice for No. 1 Denver as the Pioneers completed a two-game sweep and ended Colorado College's season with a 4-0 victory over the Tigers Saturday night at Magness Arena.
Â
For the second straight night, the game was scoreless after one period.
Â
Also for the second straight night, the Pioneers took a 3-0 lead. O'Connor opened the scoring at the 4:48 mark of the second period when he flew down the slot and redirected a pass from Tyson McLellan between CC goalie
Alex Leclerc and the short post.
Â
The pair hooked up again midway through the second as O'Connor took a pass from McLennan, cut in to the middle at the right circle and placed a backhander just inside the far post.
Â
Leclerc made a couple of outstanding saves on a Denver power play late in the second period to keep it close.
Â
Off the opening faceoff in the third period, Terry got the puck in his own end, went coast to coast and sent a wrister from the right circle past Leclerc for a 3-0 lead just 18 seconds into the final frame. Terry then claimed his third goal of the weekend with a shorthanded effort at the 11:50 mark of the third.
Â
The Pioneers (28-6-4) outshot CC 31-17 Saturday.
Sam Rothstein led the Tigers with four shots, while Leclerc made 27 saves. Denver goalie Evan Cowley had 17 saves for the shutout. Denver was 1-for-4 on the power play and the Tigers (8-24-4) failed to capitalize on either of their opportunities.
