Annie DeFrino broke the school record for goals in a single-season, but the Colorado College women's lacrosse team dropped a 23-14 decision at No. 16 Bowdoin College on Saturday afternoon.
DeFrino matched Madeline Scherer's total of 60 with her second goal of the game midway through the first half, and then set the record with her final tally of the day with 7:15 remaining in the game.
The Tigers were within a goal when sophomore attacker
Nikki Blair made the score 7-6 with 13:02 to play in the first half, but Bowdoin broke the game open with a 10-1 run and took a commanding 17-7 lead into halftime.
The Polar Bears extended their lead to 12 when Kelsey Gallagher scored two of her game-high seven goals early in the second half. Gallagher also recorded a team-high three assists.

Sadie Cole scored two goals apiece during a 6-2 surge that saw Colorado College close to within 22-14 with 1:11 to play.

The Tigers finished with a 20-19 edge in draw controls, while Bowdoin had a 16-12 advantage in ground balls.

Mary Taussig recorded three caused turnovers, three ground balls and a pair of goals.

Zoe Frolik stopped five shots for the CC, which slipped to 12-4.
Starting goaltender Kayli Weiss made eight saves during the first half for the Polar Bears, while Erin Morrissey had six during the final 30 minutes.
Colorado College wraps up the regular season next weekend in Rock Island, Ill., with West Region games against Augustana College and Concordia University Wisconsin on Saturday and Sunday, respectively.
