Tigers Pour It On Against Concordia Wisconsin

Box Score Despite playing in less than ideal weather conditions for the second day in a row, the Colorado College women's lacrosse team continued to feel right at home at Augustana College's Thorson-Lucken Field.

With the threat of heavy rain looming, the Tigers were in complete control from the outset and cruised to a 22-2 victory over Concordia University Wisconsin in their regular-season finale on Sunday afternoon.

CC's high-powered offense picked up right where it left off at the conclusion of Saturday's win over Augustana. The Tigers scored the final 10 goal of that game and then opened Sunday's contest with 14 in a row against the Falcons.

Challenged to play a full 60 minutes at both ends of the field, Colorado College got out of the gates quickly and led 4-0 a little less than five minutes into the game.

Junior attacker Steph Kelly and sophomore midfielder Ellie Meyer scored 28 seconds apart to make it 6-0 with nearly seven minutes expired, and the floodgates opened when seniors Mary Taussig and Lily Benjamin combined for three goals in a span of 53 seconds.

Freshman attacker Eva King gave CC a 10-0 lead and a running clock with 16:17 to play in the first half, and the Tigers were ahead 14-0 before freshman attacker Jackie Lenum put the Falcons on the board with 5:42 remaining in the first half.

Kelly and King led Colorado College with six points apiece.

Kelly, who had a game-high four goals, reached 100 points for the season when she scored 2:37 into the game on a one-timer off of a feed from sophomore attacker Nikki Blair. Kelly finished the game with 50 goals and 54 assists.

King scored three times and dished out a season-high three assists.

Junior attacker Annie DeFrino registered five points with three goals and an assist, while senior midfielders Sadie Cole (3g/1a) and Taussig (2g/2a) added four points apiece.

Eleven players scored at least once as the Tigers racked up 20 goals for the 12th time this season. In four appearances at Thorson-Luken Field during the last two seasons, CC averaged 21.5 goals per game.

The Colorado College defense was just as impressive, pressuring an opponent into 30 or more turnovers for the fourth time this season.

Freshman midfielder Robin Hilderman recorded three caused turnovers and a pair of ground balls to help the defense limit an opponent to just two goals for the third time this year.

Junior goaltender Zoe Frolik made a pair of saves during the first half to earn her third victory of the season.

The Tigers won 16 of 26 draw controls and built a 35-17 advantage in ground balls.

Senior goalkeeper Veronica Metanova stopped 17 shots for the Falcons, who slipped to 11-5 on the season.

With its 14th victory of the season, Colorado College is one away from matching the school record set by the 2012 squad that finished the year with a 15-3 record.

The 2017 senior class now has a combined record of 51-20, good for a .718 winning percentage.

The Tigers must wait until Sunday, May 7, to learn if they earned an at-large berth to the 2017 NCAA Division III Women's Lacrosse Championship.
