Box Score The Colorado College men's soccer team won all of the statistical battles, but lost the war on Sunday.

Despite carrying play for the majority of the game, the Tigers dropped a 1-0 decision at Wartburg College when Jay Tegge scored with only 1:20 remaining in regulation.

Tegge took a touch from Devin Eby and slipped the ball past CC senior goalkeeper Theo Hooker off a 2v1 situation.

Colorado College outshot the Knights 19-10 and had a 9-5 advantage in corner kicks, but was unable to solve goalkeeper Gunnar Lenzen who finished with nine saves.

The Knights (1-0-1) came close to breaking the deadlock a little more than nine minutes into the second half, but a shot by Ayo Adebayo from 10 yards outside the left post hit the crossbar.

The Tigers nearly caught a break when sophomore midfielder Sam Bermingham was taken down in the box with 21:51 remaining in the game, but instead of drawing the penalty, he was booked for voicing his displeasure with the referee's decision.

Hooker finished with three saves for CC, which slipped to 1-1-0 on the season.

Colorado College plays its home opener on Friday, Sept. 8, when Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference rival University of Dallas visits Stewart Field for a 3 p.m. kickoff.
