Tiger Rally Comes Up Short at TLU

Box Score Colorado College mounted an impressive comeback at Texas Lutheran University on Saturday night, but a 20-point second-half deficit proved to be too large to overcome.

After the Tigers pulled to within 48-43 on freshman guard Jade Odom's three-pointer with 6:24 to play, TLU answered with a 14-17 surge and pulled away for a 62-50 victory at Memorial Gymnasium.

The Bulldogs appeared to be in control when first-year guard Madyson Garcia connected from long range with 3:38 remaining in the third quarter, however a three-pointer by Casey Torbet ignited a 17-2 run that got CC to within five points for the first time 1:15 into the final frame.

Torbet, who scored eight points during the comeback, led the Tigers with 18 points. The junior point guard also grabbed seven rebounds and dished out five assists.

Freshman winger McKenzee Gertz produced 16 points and seven boards for CC, while Odom added 10 points and a game-high six assists.

Colorado College slipped to 7-13 overall and 4-5 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.

Junior guard Cami Davis scored a game-high 20 points for the Bulldogs, who improved to 7-12 overall and 3-5 in league play.

Freshman forward Abby Hroch added 11 points, while junior forward Presley Stephens grabbed a game-high eight rebounds.

Colorado College wraps up its stretch of four consecutive road games next week at Austin College and Centenary College on Friday and Saturday, respectively.
