Box Score Sophomore forward
Evan Underbrink recorded her first double-double of the season to lead Colorado College to a 62-58 victory over Centenary College in the first round of the 2018 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Championship on Friday at Reid Arena.
Underbrink scored 14 points and tied her career-high of 12 rebounds as the fourth-seeded Tigers recorded the program's first victory in the conference tournament since CC defeated Centre College, 66-62 in overtime, on Feb. 29, 2008.
Casey Torbet scored a game-high 16 points and grabbed six rebounds for Colorado College, which improved to 10-16 and reached double-digit victories for the first time since the 2011-12 campaign.
The junior guard also dished out six assists and became the 10th player in program history to record 200 or more in her career. Torbet finished the game with 204.
Torbet also surpassed the 800-point plateau and finished the game in 21st place on the all-time points list with 812.
Nia Duplain gave CC a 36-35 lead when she completed a three-point play with 4:21 remaining in the third quarter. The sophomore guard finished the contest with 10 points.

McKenzee Gertz extended the Tigers' lead to 44-35 when she drained a three-pointer from the right sideline and was fouled during the shot. The foul took Gertz out of the game, but freshman guard
Jade Odom stepped in to take the free throw which gave Colorado College a 45-35 lead after 30 minutes.
CC took its largest lead of the game at 60-45 when sophomore guard
Jordan Meltzer hit a layup with 1:32 remaining in the game, but Centenary junior guard Savannah Doty hit three long-distance shots to help the Ladies close to within three points on a 13-1 run.
Meltzer sealed the victory when she hit a free throw with five seconds remaining to make it a two-possession game.
Colorado College fired on all cylinders during the first quarter and built a 19-10 lead after 10 minutes. However, the teams reversed roles in the second quarter when Centenary outscored the Tigers by the same margin to level the score at 29-29.Â
The Ladies, who were seeded fifth in the tournament, ended their season with an 8-18 record.
Centenary was led by Jasmine Morris and Doty, who finished with 13 and 12 points, respectively.
Deunya Small added 10 points for the Ladies, while Haylee Washington grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds.
Colorado College faces Trinity University, the tournament's No. 1 seed, in a semifinal match on Saturday at 5 p.m.
