A pair of school records fell Saturday as the Colorado College women's track and field team opened its 2018 indoor season at the University of Colorado Invitational in Boulder, Colo.

Senior
Samantha Gilbert started the day by setting a school record in the 60-meter dash with a time of 8.21 seconds, surpassing the old record of 8.32 seconds, set by Sydney Rogalia in 2014. Gilbert's time placed her 24
th in the preliminary heats. Senior McKenna Schnak and sophomore
Liza Huschle also won the 60 in addition to the 200.

Later in the day, the foursome of Huschle and seniors
Ayla Loper,
Duranya Freeman and
Asmeda Spalding-Aguirre, shattered the 4x400-meter relay record by more than nine seconds with a time of 4:08.77, good for ninth place. The previous record of 4:17.97 was set last year by Spalding-Aguirre, Loper,
Ellie Swanson and
Stefani Messick.
"What a great way to start our indoor season," head coach
Ted Castaneda said. "We were hoping for around splits of 1:04 for the relay team and each of them ran between a 1:02 and 1:03."
