Tigers Sweep First Two Matches at Spike It Up Classic

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 The Colorado College volleyball team prevailed in a pair of three-set matches Friday on the first day of the 2019 Spike It Up Classic at Reid Arena.
 
In the opener, the Tigers defeated LeTourneau University, 25-16, 25-13, 25-13, then downed the University of La Verne, 25-23, 25-15, 25-21, in the nightcap.
 
Sophomore middle hitter Georgia Mullins led all players with 10 kills and hit .318 with just three errors in 22 attempts against LeTourneau. She also led the Tigers with three block assists. CC hit .357 as a team and held the Yellowjackets to a .022 success rate.

Against La Verne, Jordan Mullins led the way with 12 kills, including a kill to clinch the first set. She hit .500 and committed just one error on 22 attempts.
 
The Tigers, ranked No. 10 in the country in Division III, improved to 5-1 this season.
 
Key Points
After pulling out the first set against La Verne, the Tigers jumped out to 6-1 lead in the second set and never trailed again.

Colorado College Standouts
Junior setter Isabelle Aragon-Menzel paced the Tigers with 27 assists against Latourneau and tied senior outside hitter Haley Harris for the team lead with 10 digs.
Junior middle hitter Emma Hewlin hit .545 with seven kills and just one error in 11 swings against the Yellowjackets.
Harris had a team-high 13 digs against La Verne and produced two service aces in the final three points of the match.
 
LeTourneau Standouts
Kianna Crow led the Yellowjackets with nine kills.
Natalie Davenport posted a team-high 17 assists.
 
La Verne Standouts
Pi'ikea Clemens and Haley Celaya led the Leopards with six kills apiece
Madison Maynes had a team-high 11 digs
 
Next for the Tigers
Colorado College plays host to Willamette University and MIT at noon and 6 p.m. Saturday, respectively.
