Tigers Cruise Past Southwestern

Bella Beattie continued her offensive domination against Southwestern University Saturday afternoon, leading the Colorado College women's lacrosse team to an 18-3 victory over the Pirates at Washburn Field.
 
Beattie, who tied the program record of eight goals in a 23-10 victory at Southwestern last weekend, scored five goals and added four assists as the Tigers remained undefeated in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.

The junior midfielder scored a pair of goals and helped on three others as the Tigers collected the first 10 goals of the contest. Sophomore Bella Scola notched all four of her goals and freshman Bridget Hanley recorded four assists in the first 30 minutes.
 
Raquel Kurth broke the shutout and scored the Pirates' first goal with 30 seconds remaining in the first half as the Tigers held a 10-1 halftime advantage. CC recorded 23 shots in the first half and Southwestern goalie Sofia Valdespino had eight saves.
 
Hanley scored one minute into the second half to put the Tigers back up by double digits, and after Raven Garcia cut the lead to 11-2 less than four minutes into the second stanza, CC scored six straight, including two each by Beattie and sophomores Courtney Zell and Olivia Dossett.
 
Delia Freliech, who scored a pair of goals in the first half, led the Tigers with four draw controls, while Beattie and Zell tied for the team lead with five ground balls.

Colorado College finished the game with a 34-12 advantage in total shots and a 30-24 edge in ground balls. The Pirates had a 12-11 edge in draw controls.

Goaltender Natalie Slade stopped three shots for the Tigers.

Courtney Zell and Bella Scola each had four goals on four shots.
Hayley Heinecken had two caused turnovers and two draw controls.
 
Southwestern Standouts
Raven Garcia led the Pirates with a goal and an assist.
Emma Pertuit recorded eight draw controls, four ground balls and two caused turnovers.
 
Notes
Colorado College improved to 4-2 and 3-0 in the SCAC.
Southwestern slipped to 3-4 and 0-2 in the SCAC.
