Mayotte Named U.S. National Junior Team Assistant Coach

Colorado College hockey head coach Kris Mayotte has been selected to serve as an assistant coach of the 2022 U.S. National Junior Team, announced today by USA Hockey.

The team will compete in the 2022 International Ice Hockey Federation World Junior Championship, Dec. 26, 2021 – Jan. 5, 2022 in Edmonton and Red Deer, Alberta. Mayotte will once again join head coach Nate Leaman in an effort to defend the team's gold medal.

"I am honored to be a part of the USA World Junior staff," Mayotte said. "Any opportunity to represent our country is a special feeling, but to be able to go back with the same staff as last year brings even more excitement."

Mayotte, who was an assistant coach at Providence for four years under Leaman, will help coach the U.S. National Junior Team for the fourth time. He joins Ted Donato and Steve Miller as assistant coaches, while Theresa Feaster will serve as the team's video coach.

A 2006 graduate of Union College, Mayotte helped the U.S. win a gold medal at the World Junior Championship in 2017 and a bronze medal in 2018. He is the first Colorado College head coach to serve on the staff of the U.S. National Junior Team.
