Georgia Mullins was virtually unstoppable on the opening day of the 2021 Spike It Up Classic.

Mullins put down 28 kills on an error-free 43 attacks to post a .651 hitting percentage during three-set victories over Howard Payne University (25-8, 25-12, 25-11) and West Region rival Occidental College (25-22, 25-8, 25-18).

The senior middle hitter went 7-for-7 during the first set of the nightcap when Occidental went toe-to-toe with the fourth-ranked Tigers.

In the second-set, CC hit an error-free .517 as a team and added five kills from sophomore outside hitter
Isabella Lipacis and three from freshman middle blocker
Skya Favor to seize the momentum.

Senior outside hitter
Isabella Vasquez produced six kills in the third set as Colorado College completed its fifth sweep in six matches.

Lipacis posted a double-double with 11 kills and 12 digs, while Vasquez double up with 10 kills and 13 digs.

Sophomore setter
Jenny Jenks dished out 41 assists while guiding the Tigers to a .386 team hitting percentage.

CC blocked eight shots while holding Occidental to a .090 team hitting percentage, which marked the third time this season the Tigers held an opponent below .100.

Aniya Hawthorne and Skye Garcia led Occidental with eight kills apiece.

In the first match, Colorado College hit a sizzling .415 to make quick work of Howard Payne. The Tigers scored the first five points in every set and never trailed in the match that took just 58 minutes

Mullins led the way with 14 kills on an error-free 24 swings, good for a .583 hitting percentage. It marked the 14th time in her career that the senior middle hitter did not commit an error during a match in which she had double-digit attacks.

Lipacis posted a team-leading .833 hitting percentage with five kills on six attacks without an error, while Vasquez hit .462 with six kills on an errorless 13 attempts.

Sophomore libero
Peyton Hummel produced a career-high seven service aces without an error, and tied Vasquez with a match-high 14 digs. As a team, the Tigers recorded 14 aces, the most for the program since the 201t team had 15 in a sweep of the Mississippi University for Women.

Mullins also had a hand in three of CC's four blocked shots with one solo and a pair of assists as the Tigers held HPU to a .044 team hitting percentage.

Mya Ross led the Yellow Jackets with nine kills, while Sydney Sullivan had a team-high 12 digs.

The Spike It Up Classic continues on Saturday with five more matches. Colorado College plays host to Belhaven University at noon, and then closes out the tournament against Moravian University at 6 p.m. MT.
