The No. 4 Colorado College volleyball team began conference play with victories over Schreiner University and No. 18 Southwestern University on Friday afternoon at Reid Arena.
Sophomore outside hitter
Isabella Lipacis put away 15 kills while hitting .429 to lead the Tigers to a 25-14, 25-12, 25-23 victory win over the Mountaineers in the first match of the day.
Senior outside hitter
Isabella Vasquez produced 10 kills on 20 swings without an error.
In her first career start, sophomore outside hitter
Keeley Kandziora pounded down a career-high seven kills on 11 attempts without committing an error, and hit a career-best .636 in the process.
Sophomore setter
Jenny Jenks, who began the weekend ranked second in Division III averaging 11.15 assists per set, dished out 38 assists while guiding the Tigers to a .441 team hitting percentage.
Junior libero
Peyton Hummel led the defense with 15 digs, while senior middle hitter
Georgia Mullins had a hand in four of the team's five blocked shots. CC held the Mountaineers to a .091 team hitting percentage, which marked the seventh time this season an opponent hit below .100 against the Tigers.
Kayla Lofland led Schreiner with nine kills, while Mia Moreno had team-highs of 22 assists and 10 digs.
Colorado College capped its day by posting a 21-25, 31-29, 25-21, 25-22 victory over Southwestern.
Lipacis led the Tigers with 18 kills and shared the team high of 16 digs with Hummel.
Mullins recorded 17 kills, six digs and three blocks, while junior rightside hitter
Meaghan Hohman produced 11 kills and five aces.
Before leaving the match with a foot injury near the end of the second set, Vasquez amassed eight kills and 13 digs.
After dropping the first set, CC overcame a 19-16 deficit and a pair of set points to win the second set and level the match.
Despite trailing by as many as five points early in the third set, the Tigers rallied to take the third set. Mullins had three kills during a 5-0 run that closed out the set.
Lipacis put down eight kills on an error-free 14 swings in the fourth set when Colorado College opened a 20-14 lead and held off a determined Southwestern rally.
Colorado College faces No. 3 Trinity University on Saturday at noon MT.
