No. 4 Colorado College Falls to No. 3 Trinity in Top-5 Showdown

The Colorado College volleyball  team saw its three-match winning streak against No. 3 Trinity University come to an end with a 25-20, 25-10, 25-13 setback in a top-5 showdown on Saturday afternoon at Reid Arena.

Playing without senior outside hitter Isabella Vasquez, a first-team all-Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference selection who was injured in Friday's victory over No. 18 Southwestern University, CC struggled to find their rhythm on the offensive side of the net.

After trailing by six points midway though the first set, Colorado College pulled to within 19-16 on a kill by freshman outside hitter Kellie Hopper. But after a time out, Trinity answered with six consecutive points and went on to close out the first set.

The momentum carried into the second set as TU raced to a 12-4 lead and CC was unable to stem the tide.

The defending SCAC champions were within 12-8 early in the third set, however Trinity seized control with a 9-4 surge and went on to post its first victory in Reid Arena in a conference match.

Senior middle hitter Georgia Mullins led the Tigers with eight kills and three blocked shots.

Sophomore outside hitter Isabella Lipacis finished with seven kills and 10 digs.
