Coffey, Andrews and Basse Earn NCHC Weely Honors

A trio of Colorado College players, Tyler Coffey, Nicklas Andrews and Dominic Basse, captured three of the four NCHC Player of the Week honors after the Tigers swept Miami University last weekend in Oxford, Ohio.

Coffey, the Forward of the Week, had the best game and weekend of his collegiate career last weekend, powering CC to its first NCHC road sweep since November of 2019. In Friday's 5-1 win at Miami, Coffey recorded a natural hat trick, scoring the game's final three goals to secure the victory. He scored his first two goals in a span of 1:35 in the second period to extend a 2-1 lead to 4-1 for his first career multi-goal game. He then capped the hat trick in the final frame for his first career hat trick. It was the first hat trick by a Tiger since Feb. 17, 2020 (Grant Cruikshank vs. Air Force). Coffey then fired one shot on goal in Saturday's 4-3 comeback win over the RedHawks.

Coffey finished the series with three goals on five shots, with four of them coming on Friday. He posted a +1 plus/minus in the series, including a career-best +2 in Friday's victory. His first goal Friday came on the power play.

Coffey nearly doubled his season goal total in Friday's game, as he now has a team-high-tying seven goals and 10 points in 18 games this season. This is his first career NCHC weekly award.

Andrews, who was named Defenseman of the Week, doubled his season point total from the blue line during the sweep. He notched his first collegiate multi-point game on Friday with a pair of assists, while playing on a penalty kill unit that went a perfect 7-for-7 in a 5-1 victory. The next night, Andrews scored his third goal of the season, tying the game at 3-3 in the second period of an eventual 4-3 victory.

Andrews ended the weekend with three points on a goal and two assists. He blocked two shots, as well, with one each night, and posted a +1 plus/minus in the series. The Tigers finished 9-for-10 on the penalty kill in the series and limited Miami to four goals all weekend with Andrews on the blue line.

On the season, Andrews now has three goals and three assists for six points in 17 games. This is his first career NCHC weekly award.

The Goalie of the Week, Basse backstopped Colorado College to its first NCHC sweep and road sweep since November of 2019 with a pair of wins at Miami. On Friday, the Chicago Blackhawks draft pick made 36 saves, his second-highest total of the season, in a 5-1 victory. Basse gave up a goal less than eight minutes into the game Friday, but was flawless the rest of the contest, including making 14 short-handed saves to kill off all seven Miami power plays. A night later, he made 14 more stops in a 4-3 win to stretch his win streak to a career-long three games.

Basse compiled a .926 save percentage and a 2.00 goals-against average against Miami, making 50 saves on 54 shots faced in the series. On the season, the 6-foot-6 netminder is now 6-8-2 with a .906 save percentage and a 2.51 GAA.

This is Basse's second NCHC Goaltender of the Week honor this season, while he was NCHC Rookie of the Week once as a freshman.
