Senior guards
Scott Cunningham and
Jack McRoskey combined for 31 points, but the Colorado College men's basketball team came up short in its quest to earn an elusive road victory on Friday night.
The University of Dallas overcame a nine-point deficit early in the second half to post a 77-72 victory and earn a split in the season series against the Tigers.
Cunningham connected on four of nine shots from behind the arc and led CC with 18 points.
McRoskey went 2-for-2 from long distance and 4-for-7 from the floor overall. He also dished out six assists and grabbed three rebounds.
The Tigers built a 53-44 cushion when
Sam Kinney scored on a layup with almost six minutes elapsed in the second half, but Colorado College went scoreless for the a little more than four minutes which allowed UD to avoid a second lopsided loss.
Marcus Juarez fueled a 12-0 surge with seven points, while Cameran Hyde capped it with a three pointer to give the Crusaders a 56-53 lead.
McRoskey hit a triple as the Tigers answered with seven consecutive points, however Dallas responded with eight points in a row to take a lead it would not give up. Â
After trailing by six points with 3:40 remaining, Colorado College trimmed its deficit to 68-66 on a pair of McRoskey free throws, but UD sealed the victory by going 5-for-8 from the charity stripe during the final 43 seconds.
Letrell Toussaint led the Crusaders with 19 points and nine rebounds, while Jai Love scored 16 points and dished out 10 assists.
The Crusaders pulled down 19 offensive rebounds and finished the contest with a 40-24 advantage in points scored in the paint and a 26-9 edge in second-chance points.

Alex Russo scored nine points and grabbed a pair of rebounds.
Adrian Price finished with seven points and seven rebounds.

Colorado College dropped to 5-15 overall and 3-8 in the SCAC.
The University of Dallas improved to 5-12 overall and 3-6 in the conference.

Next for the Tigers
Colorado College returns home for its final two games of the season at Reid Arena. The Tigers play host to Southwestern University on Friday, Feb. 4, then celebrate Senior Day on Sunday, Sept. 6, against Texas Lutheran University.
