Cunningham’s 20 Points Not Enough to Get CC Past Nebraska Wesleyan

Despite a game-high 20 points from Scott Cunningham, the Colorado College men's basketball team dropped an 83-67 result against Nebraska Wesleyan University on Tuesday night at Reid Arena.

Cunningham connected on seven of 12 field goal attempts while reaching the 20-point mark for the second time this season. The senior guard also pulled down a season-best six rebounds.

The Tigers held a 17-9 lead after Cunningham hit a fall-away jumper along the right baseline with 9:16 remaining in the first half, however the PrairieWolves with a 15-1 run to build a six-point lead.

After Adrian Price scored on a layup to pull CC to within 25-22 with 3:09 remaining in the first half, NWU closed out the half with a 9-0 run to extend its lead to 12 points.

The PrairieWolves opened the second half with a 7-2 run to take a 17-point lead, but the Tigers clawed their way back to within seven points when Devin Philio scored with 14:26 to play and trailed just 49-41 after Alex Russo completed a three-point play with 11:54 remaining.

That however was as close as Colorado College would get.

Carter Glenn went 8-for-8 from the charity stripe and led Nebraska Wesleyan with 19 points.

Peter Lash finished with 14 points and eight rebounds for the PrairieWolves.

Price scored 10 points and led the Tigers with eight rebounds.

Coach's Comments
"It was great to have a nationally respected program in Reid Arena in January," head coach Jeff Conarroe said. "Nebraska Wesleyan is a good team and great program, a standard we have our sights on.
"Tonight I thought we really defended in the first half and were excellent on the glass. But they were good throughout and able to take advantage of our mistakes as the game wore on. Our shots will fall again and this team can be a special rebounding team if we can stay focused on the process and keep improving. We had some nice moments offensively. I'm proud of our effort tonight, our guys played hard."
