Box Score Freshman guard Dinari Boykin landed a jumper with two seconds left in the game to lift the Tigers to a 69-67 victory over the Chicago Maroons to start the 2022 Midway Classic.
Sophomore Scott Ruegg and Boykin both scored in the double-digits and 11 Tigers found their way into the score column in the win on Friday night. Ruegg went 3-5 from behind the arc on Friday night.
"This is a statement win for our program," coach Jeff Conarroe said. "Our players deserve all the credit, they played with incredible heart and determination. Our staff is tremendously proud of their response after our trip to Nebraska. Our defense and effort on the glass was impressive. Chicago has a really good team, we are fortunate to get out of there with a win, but give the guys all the credit, they earned it!"
CC had shot an impressive 40.6% from the field and 29.4% from behind the arc. The Tigers out-rebounded the Maroons 39-35 and scored 17 second-chance points.
Freshman Asher Nofziger came off the bench to score seven points, nab five rebounds and two blocks for the Tigers.
Alec Bryan led the Maroons with 24 points and nine rebounds.
Colorado College Standouts
Scott Ruegg scored 13 points and five rebounds.
Dinari Boykin came off the bench to score 11 points, including the game-winning layup, and five rebounds.
UChicago Standouts
Alec Bryan scored 24 points and nine rebounds.
Thomas Kurowski nabbed 16 points and six rebounds.

The Tigers take on Colby College on Sunday for the final game of the Midway Classic.
