Colorado College freshman Kaidan Mbereko was named the KJ Branding Goaltender of the Week by the National Collegiate Hockey Conference after splitting a pair of starts against 19th-ranked Minnesota Duluth last weekend at Ed Robson Arena.

Mbereko, from Aspen, Colo., collected a career-high 34 saves in Friday's 5-0 victory over the Bulldogs, earning CC's first shutout by a freshman since Alex Leclerc blanked Mercyhurst, 3-0, on Dec. 28, 2016. Ten of Mbereko's 34 saves came short-handed to help kill all five UMD power plays.

In the second game of his first career back-to-back starts, Mbereko had 32 saves, including 27 in the final two periods in a 3-1 loss to UMD.

For the weekend, he had a 1.02 goals-against average and .971 saves percentage.

The Tigers, 4-6-0 overall and 1-1-0 in the NCHC, travels to Oxford, Ohio, this weekend for a series against Miami University, Nov. 11-12.
