Tigers Trounce St. Thomas; Extend Winning Streak to Seven Games

Zoe Tomlinson came off the bench to record game highs of 16 points and nine rebounds, and lead Colorado College to a convincing 63-44 victory at St. Thomas on Saturday afternoon.

The Tigers extended their season-long winning streak to seven games and secured the third seed for next week's Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship.

Talia Cloud produced 13 points and eight rebounds for CC, which outscored the Celts 37-13 during the second and third quarters to take command of the game.

Anna Fanelli dished out 10 assists to reach double digits for the sixth game in a row and the 11th time this season.

Fanelli, who increased her career total to 426, climbed past Courtney Tyus into second place on Colorado College's career list and into ninth place on the SCAC's all-time chart.

Leading 19-13 after 10 minutes, the Tigers began the second quarter with a 15-1 run to open a commanding 20-point lead. UST scored the next six points to trim its deficit to 34-20, but Kyle Rowland completed a three-point play with two seconds to go and put CC up by 17 points after 20 minutes.

Following a bucket by Alexya Castillo 46 seconds into the second half, the Tigers went on a 19-4 scoring binge to open a 30-point cushion with 41 seconds to play on the third quarter and the Celts would get no closer than 18 points during the final 10 minutes.

Colorado College finished the contest with a 50-32 advantage in rebounds and outscored the Celts, 32-12, in the paint.

Colorado College improved to 14-11 overall and 11-5 in the SCAC.
St. Thomas finished its season 6-16 overall and 4-12 in conference play.
 
Next for the Tigers
Colorado College earned the third seed for the 2022 SCAC Women's Basketball Championship and will play either Austin College or Southwestern University in the first round on Friday, Feb. 25, in Sherman, Texas.
