Jack Haims scored a pair of goals, but the Colorado College men's lacrosse steam was unable to get its offense in rhythm during a 15-6 setback at No. 13 Stevenson University on Saturday night.
After
Dylan Brown gave the Tigers a 1-0 lead off a feed from
Makay Hansen 21 seconds into the contest, Stevenson answered with four goals to take a lead they would not surrender.
Haims' first tally pulled CC to within 4-2 at the end of the first quarter, and his man-up goal with a little more five minutes remaining before halftime had the Tigers within 6-3.
The Mustangs struck for a pair of goals just six seconds apart to build an 8-3 lead after 30 minutes, then they broke the game open with four goals in the third quarter before
Charlie Rainer notched his first collegiate goal for the Tigers.
Ben Bradshaw and
Dylan Wells added fourth-quarter goals for Colorado College.
Mitchell Lachman notched four goals for Stevenson, while Josh Brannan added three markers and a pair of assists for a game-high five points.
The Mustangs finished the game with a 65-29 advantage in total shots and a 36-26 edge in ground balls.
Ben Anastos made a career-high 19 saves for the Tigers before giving way to
Pat Mahoney for the final 6:23.
CC held its own at the dot, going 11-for-24 on faceoffs.
Colorado College was 1-for-5 while playing a man up, but gave up only one goal in seven man-down situations.
