Cunningham’s Buzzer Beaters Lift Tigers Over Texas Lutheran

Senior guard Scott Cunningham buried a pair of three-point buzzer beaters, the second of which came on a perfectly designed inbounds that covered the length of the court, to lift Colorado College to a heart-stopping 75-74 victory over Texas Lutheran University on Sunday afternoon at Reid Arena.

Jack McRoskey caught Charlie Rounaghi's pass near midcourt, and hit Cunningham in stride as he approached the three-point arc. The senior guard pulled up and drained the winning basket from 25 feet out to send the Senior Day crowd into a frenzy.

Cunningham's game winner came 2.3 seconds after Jamir Mason knocked down a pull-up jumper in the lane to give TLU a 74-73 lead.

Cunningham also burned the Bulldogs at the end of the first half, knocking down a step-back fade-away triple from the top pf the key over the outstretched hands of Texas Lutheran's Isaac Orozco.

Cunningham finished the game with 22 points, four rebounds and four assists. He went 7-for-18 from the floor and 3-forr-4 from long distance.

The Bulldogs led 19-14 when Sebastian Andrade hit a short jumper eight minutes into the game, but Colorado College rallied to take a 40-34 lead after 20 minutes.

The Tigers pushed their lead to 51-43 on Scott Ruegg's jump shot a little more than five minutes into the second half, however TLU utilized a 22-9 surge to build a five-point lead with 5:09 to play.
