Lonergan Factors in Four Goals as CC Coasts Past Baldwin Wallace

   
Tobin Lonergan produced three goals and an assist during the first half as the Colorado College women's lacrosse team raced to a 10-goal lead in the first half and cruised to a 17-10 victory over Baldwin Wallace University on Friday afternoon at Washburn Field.

Lonergan, a first-year attacker, improved her team-leading totals 18 goals, five assists and 23 points as the Tigers posted their third-consecutive victory.

Caroline Shay struck for three goals, while Kelsey Shankle recorded the first two goals and assists of her career, all in the first half.

CC led 6-0 before Deanna Loukas put the Yellow Jackets on the board with the first of her game-high five goals.

The Tigers led 9-2 after Shankle scored for the first time, and following another from Loukas, they closed out the first half on a 5-1 run to take extend their lead to 14-4.

Four consecutive goals pulled Baldwin Wallace to within seven goals, but that was as close as it would get.

Colorado College won 22 of 29 draw controls and finished with a 21-18 edge in ground balls.

The Tigers also launched 37 total shots, compared to 22 for Baldwin Wallace.

Natalie Slade did no face a shot during the first eight minutes in goal and left the game with a 4-0 lead.

Avery Newton played the final 51:34 and made three saves.

Ashleigh Hildreth stopped nine shots for the Yellow Jackets.
