Natalie Slade made 12 saves to help keep Colorado College within striking distance, however Amherst College went on a 3-1 run during the final five minutes to pull away for a 12-8 victory on Wednesday at Washburn Field.
Slade was spectacular during the first three quarters when she recorded double-digit saves for the third time this season. The junior goalkeeper stopped five shots in the third quarter alone when the Tigers cut a three-goal deficit to one.
Amherst extended its two-goal halftime lead to 6-3 on Becky Kendall's first goal, but CC stuck twice in a span of 30 seconds with markers from Carolina Shay and
Bella Scola.
After Sydney Larsen scored off the draw to give the Mammoths a 7-5 lead,
Devon Ortman found the cage for the second time to pull Colorado College back to within one.
Goals by Lauren Fieldman and Kendall late in the third period gave Amherst a 9-6 lead, and after
Annie Tucker got one back for the Tigers 1:18 into the fourth quarter, the Mammoth lead stayed at two until Elizabeth Rose and
Eliza Marcus scored to give the visitors a four-goal lead at 11-7.

Tobin Lonergan extended her goal-scoring streak to seven games when she scored with 2:35 remaining in the game, then Ashley Tucker closed out the Amherst scoring on her second goal with eight seconds to go.
Ortman led Colorado College with two goals and an assist, while Scola scored a pair.
The Mammoths won 16 of 23 draws and recorded a 19-18 edge in ground balls.
The extra possessions led to Amherst's 31-22 advantage in total shots.
Starting goaltender Caroline Fisher made four saves for Amherst during nearly 39 minutes in goal, while Caroline Stole stopped four shots in relief.
