Jensen Fuels Tigers Past Western New Mexico

Sophomore Gigi Jensen won both of her matches, including the clinching singles contest, on Sunday to lead the Colorado College women's tennis team to a 5-4 victory over Western New Mexico University at Memorial Park in Colorado Springs.
 
The Tigers took an early 2-1 lead by winning the Nos. 1 and 3 doubles matches. Jensen and Maddy Meister edged Julia Tarrezas and Massiel Paredes, 8-7(5), at the top spot, while Olivia Dicks and Malia Rivera downed Nicold Gonzalez / Andreea Arnautu, 8-3, at No. 3.
 
Each team won three of the six singles matches. Christina Heffron led things off for the Tigers with an impressive 6-4, 6-2, victory over Livia Leite at the No. 1 position. Meister handled Paredes, 6-4, 6-2, at No. 4, then Jensen clinched the team win with an exciting, 6-0, 5-7, 1-0(8) triumph over Andreea Arnautu.
 
The Tigers (3-4) return to action on Friday, March 18 against Denison College in the team's first match of its spring break trip to Orlando, Fla.
