Anastos Anchors Defense, Brown Fuels Attack as CC Stymies Sewanee

   
Colorado College dominated in all three zones while rolling to a 14-6 victory over Sewanee on picture-perfect Monday afternoon at Washburn Field.

Ben Anastos made 15 saves in nearly 56 minutes in goal, Dylan Brown fueled the attack with career highs of five goals and six points, and the Tigers went 24-for-24 on clearing attempts.

Anders Erickson also produced five points with three goals and a pair of assists, while Makay Hansen notched three goals for the first time this season.

Erickson scored twice during the first quarter to help CC build a 6-1 lead with 6:52 remaining before halftime.

Sewanee got one back when Drew Mullen struck with 11 seconds remaining in the second quarter, then Davis Gillenwater scored 30 seconds into the second half to cut Colorado College's lead to 6-3.

Brown set up Karsten Nyarady's first career marker 2:36 into the second half, and then he struck for the third time almost four minutes later to restore the Tigers' five-goal lead at 8-3.

Sewanee scored two of the next three goals to pull to within 9-5 with 10:50 to play, but CC went on a 5-1 scoring binge to close out the game, with Hansen potting three goals and Erickson providing a goal and two assists.

At the other end of the field, the Colorado College successfully defended all five man-down situations and contributed eight of the team's eight caused turnovers.

The Tigers finished with a 48-43 edge in total shots and a 29-17 advantage in ground balls.

CC also won 15 of 25 faceoffs. 

Gillenwater scored twice and added an assist for Sewanee, while Hampton Brannon stopped 14 shots.
