CC Drops Home Opener to Undefeated Pomona-Pitzer

       
Shoshi Henderson scored five goals and set up three others to lead the undefeated Pomona-Pitzer Colleges women's lacrosse team to a 19-4 victory over Colorado College on Saturday afternoon at Washburn Field.
 
The Tigers never were able to get their offense in rhythm and trailed 7-0 before Tobin Lonergan struck for her team-leading 11 goal of the season 5:21 into the second quarter.
 
Unfortunately, the Sagehens doubled their scoring output before Devan Ortman scored CC's second goal with 6:18 remaining in the third quarter.
 
Maggie O'Donnell and Delia Freliech produced Colorado College's final two goals.
 
Fiona Lewis and Sydney Landauer scored four goals apiece for Pomona-Pitzer, which averages more than 20 goals per game so far this season.
 
Ortman led the Tigers with a goal and an assist.
 
The Sagehens compiled a 33-14 advantage in total shots, including a 27-11 margin in shots on goal.
 
Pomona-Pitzer also won 17 of 25 draw controls, while the Tigers finished with an 18-17 edge in ground balls.
 
Natalie Slade made eight saves for CC, while Emily Vomvas stopped seven shots for the Sagehens.
 
The Tigers saw their four-game winning streak against Pomona-Pitzer come to an end.

Sophie Murphy produced two ground balls and a pair of caused turnovers.
Devan Ortman picked up three ground balls and two draw controls.
 
Pomona-Pitzer Standouts
Kate Immergluck finished with five draw controls and three ground balls.
Caroline Worthington produced four draw controls, three ground balls and three caused turnovers.

Colorado College slipped to 1-2.
Pomona-Pitzer improved to 4-0.
