Colorado College Falls to CMS to In Southern California Finale

        
Maggie O'Donnell and Healy Bledsoe produced four points apiece, but the Colorado College women's lacrosse dropped a 21-12 result at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps to wrap up this week's two game road trip to Southern California.

After falling behind a 5-0 a little more than five minutes into the game, the Tigers clawed their way back with consecutive goals from Bella Scola, Caroline Shay and Delia Freliech.

CMS answered with a pair of goals to build a four-point lead, however O'Donnell scored twice during a 4-1 surge that saw Colorado College pull to within 8-7 on a tally by Devon Ortman.

A second 5-0 run gave the Athenas a 13-7 lead a little more than five minutes into the second half, but goals by Emmeline Kelley and Courtney Zell reduced CC's deficit to four with 5:22 remaining in the third quarter.

The Tigers were still within striking distance thanks to markers from Tobin Lonergan and Ortman which cut their deficit to 15-11, but CMS closed out the game with a 6-1 surge to seal the victory.

O'Donnell and Bledsoe each finished with two goals and two assists for CC, while Ortman also struck for a pair of goals.

The Athenas scored on four of seven free-position shots, while Colorado College was 1-for-3.

Claremont-Mudd-Scripps launched 40 shots, compared to 26 for CC.

The Athenas finished with a 23-19 advantage in ground balls, while Colorado College had a 19-18 edge in ground balls.

Natalie Slade stopped nine shots for the Tigers.

Starting goaltender Kendall Chapko made five saves for CMS, as did Holly Shankle who played the final 30 minutes.

Rachel Leonardi led the Athenas with a game-high six goals, while Olivia Carey produced eight points on three goals and five assists.
